Ive been playing many matches with lots of different characters, and so far Ive noted a few things:

  • The map ends abruptly, this is a minor detail caused mainly due to the sharp edges of the map itself
  • When there isnt a single character controlled by a player then the screen stays still, it would be nice to have a way to move it arround (maybe with the arrow keys?). This idea applies for when the player loses all of their health too
  • When you randomize (pressing space) in the versus screen you can end up with a match against nobody, currently if you start a one fighter match the fight never ends and its just your character in an empty map

I have some comments on the AI but I also understand it is still early in development so its isnt necessary to tackle that situation, the important part is that it can be fun to fight against it.

Also, about the versus screen, Ill sketch some ideas with the intention of making it look more organised.

Im personally biased towards manual because it gives more freedom to the player for strategizing

Also, an idea I thought of is having directional attacks triggered by pressing the corresponding key (manual method), but with the addition of some sort of detection system, where the player would launch itself to a nearby opponent if it is in the direction of the attack.

The sprite sheet showcased isnt the same as the one stored in the file, since that would make it unnecessarily heavy

I made it to experiment with other types of style for a baston character. This is meant to have a similar feel to the default Goku but it isnt meant to be an improvement.

Notes:

  • The character has two forms, the second of which is meant to be a game-ender form.
  • The way it works is you build up speed charging your KI to the maximum value to transform.


The second form is a bit of a letdown in terms of new sprites so I might upgrade this character in the future

This character was hard to make and after some investigation about it I decided not to make that many frames, so I reused the same animation for a lot of poses

Also, I just realized Hanks right hand is missing when he fires with the "easier to hold" gun. So now I have to update Hank.

Also, with Tricky I can only reduce empty space on phase 1 because phase 2 needs the lack of space for the transformation.
