Hello! Recently, while I was having fun recreating the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai Saga on Devolution and while I was playing with Piccolo, I had an idea for a move. The Special Ability of Demon Hand! (name for the stretchy arm ability of the Namekians according to the Wiki).

My idea of how it would work will be by:

● Being a Special Ability for the right and left keyboard, costing one special bar like any other move.

● Not costing Ki to work, because i couldn't find a way that would make the waste reasonable (but it could turn out to be too OP).

● Being based on how a Ki Charge Level 1 works (Assets, Speed, Damage, etc.).

● When the attack interacts with the other player "catching" them, a knockback directed towards the side wherever Piccolo is activates.

● Compensating it "mediocrity" as a special move, this move could be a potential Combo Starter or a Combo Extender.
One that I could imagine, and a basic one, was that after you end up using Demon Hand effectively, and while the enemy is on knockback, blast a Ki Charge at them with the Ki that wasn't wasted, being at minimum almost one whole HP bar damage!

Even if the concept uses Teen Piccolo for the attack and works out for any regular Namekian on the game, it really ends on any character that is shown to have an arm-stretching ability! Like the Majin Race or Moro!

That's a nice mockup you did there, and I like that it only knocks back the enemy instead of doing something complicated, like grabbing him.

But it raises a few questions:

  • Does the extended arm only go straight forward, with no angles like 45° up or down?
  • What happens if the enemy fires at the extended arm and hits it? Does it explode the ki blast, cancel the extended arm, or hurt Piccolo?
  • What happens if the opponent touches the middle of the extended arm, instead of the hand?
  • Is there a limit to the size of the extended arm, in case it touches nothing?

It can work like a ki wave, which is nice. But for it to work properly without hardcoding a lot of stuff for each fighter with that power, I need to implement a coordinate system per fighter, so that attacks don't always fire from the exact same spot for everyone.

It's good to see you Txori😁, sorry for the late respond in advance, but i will try to resolve the and my doubts for the now topic, as i see some things for Demon Hand being just Ki Charge's attributes.

  • Special Ability Movement:
    The arm can go all angles, even if it looks a little broken to me, I can put it under the rug because of the characteristic movement of the attack, also to help how it looks a little more, we can put the charge above the sprite a little, like some Ki Charges have shown to do.

  • Interaction with Enemy's Attacks:
    I feel that the attacks interactions and their effects on Demon Hand could be based around the capabilities of damage that it can receive. Demon Hand would be able to resist Ki Blast attacks because of low damage, but for major attacks like Ki Charges from above 1 Ki Bar level, Rush Attacks, or any others with high damage probability would cancel it, and by defect, hurt the character that uses it.
    In my opinion, the damage that can be taken could be reduced on a small scale so it doesn't feel like a waste of the Special Bar (but it might be complicated to do, so its just an extra that ill let hang in the air).
  • Demon Hand's Capacities:
    This one is short, as i see it would work perfectly like Ki Charges already does, being the "Ball" part of the beam the only part that actually has an interaction with the player, so in this move, that part will be taken by the Hand, having the other parts as the Arm or the Start of the attack do nothing.
    If the idea of the arm going backwards, returning to the original state when it reaches its limit, the hand could still attack the enemy even if it misses because of going backwards.

  • Stretching Limits:
    I would base the limits of the size that the arm can reach in game by what has been shown in media, and what we have is that the limit for the attack is much more likely don't existent on a "normal level", being Piccolo capable of extending his arms to very far distances and tied people with it at the same time with no problems. So, I'll just say that the limit would be the screen itself, like a Ki Charge😆
